Reapplying SP2

Hi,

For certain reasons I recently reapplied SP 2 simply by running the
standalone 272 MB file WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU.exe". What I am wondering
about is the fact that I did not have to reapply the patches that have been
released after SP 2, which I expected I would have to do. When I go to
Microsoft Update it says that there are no updates to download and when I go
to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs all the latest patches are listed as
installed. Is that normal? When reapplying SP 2, can Windows really
determine which files belong to more recent patches and not touch them?

Yes. Windows will not update files that have timestamps more
recent that the versions being used in a re-install.
