Today I received a notice, through automatic updates,
that SP2 was ready to download. I clicked on download now
and the box went away. However, an install update
dialogue box never appeared. Now I have a downloading
updates: 0% icon stuck in the tray. I am wondering if I
actually received the update or not, If I go to control
panel, add or remove programs in the list there are 17
listings for Windows XP Hot-fix SP2.
My question is my settings for automatic updates is set
to prompt before downloading and before installing, why
didn't the install dialogue box come up and let me know
the update had been downloaded and ready to install?
When I manually go to the update site and scan for
updates (express) it says that SP2 to click install to
begin the installation process. I am a bit confused to
the situation surrounding the SP2 download and
installation.
Any pointers or explanations would be greatly appreciated.
Thank-you in advance,
Dave
