XP SP1

I installed XP SP1 on my computer
Then I found out that the performance of my computer degraded.
Why is that ?

Hence I uninstalled SP1 using Add/Remove programs in control panel
Is that the right way?
Is it ok to uninstall SP1?
Will my system malfunction now?

Hello!
It's sad to know that your system's performance degraded
after installing XP SP1.It has all the fixes as well as
security patches.Regarding performaces there are several
reasons behind that. You can't blame it alone.
yes!you have uninstalled correctly. It may cause
malfunctions as you have deleted the fixes/patches.Your
system has become more vulnurable but choice/decision is
yours, you can't blame anybody.

A large part of it it because Sp1 updated hundreds of OS files, and
typically results in massive fragmentation. If you defrag the disk, and
reboot a few times, things should get back to near normal.

Yes

It's Ok but not recommended. Sp1 fixed quite a few problem with the
basic release of WinXP .. all of which you will now suffer from.
Will my system malfunction now?

It'll have all the same bugs that the original release of WinXP had.
Personally I would not run without SP1. Try it again, and this time
defrag the disk afterwards. Also, if you can be explicit about =what=
performance was degraded, maybe we can help. Most of the world is
running SP1 without any particular problems.
