Windows XP XP problem

When I try to open a Word document that I have saved a box comes up saying that the file is already being used by me. Do I want to make a copy 2 boxes are at the bottom of the box one says OK and the other says Cancel if I touch the cancel button I can open the saved file, how do I fix this.

Have you got the same file open in any other application, and does the problem persist after you've restarted the PC?

I am sure the file is not already open in any other application, and this problem persists after OI have restarted my PC and to all my Word files. thank you for replying Yvonne
