I have a new xp pro sp2 machine taking the place of a 98 2nd ed. the 98
machine connects to the nt 4.0 domain no prob. the connection is from a
remote site through two routers so i use two different networks (192.168.10.?
and 192.168.9.?)when I connect the new xp i get a message cannot find domain
although i can ping the address and other machines on the network. when an
xp machine is connected at the same site as the nt server I can access the
domain no problem
any help is appreciated

To find the NT4 domain, XP needs to have a
method of NetBIOS name resolution.

With an NT4 domain split across remote subnets like this,
the usual method for NetBIOS name resolution isWINS.

Check where the WINS server is.
It may be the NT4 domain controller itself.

Ensure it's specified in the XP TCP/IP Advanced Properties. WINS tab.
Whilst you are there, ensure NetBIOS-over-TCP/IP is enabled too.
