XP Pro and IP Printing

I'd like to setup a network printer using an HP Jetdirect and IP Printing.
The IP address I would give it would be static IP that could be accessed by
anyone over the net.

What I would like to do is somehow restrict access to this printer using a
username/password so that not everyone on the net would be able to print to
it.

Is there any way I can do this with IP printing?

Lookup creating Group (printer group) and assigning rights to the group in a
policy. We use Novell with XP clients so I can't help out with Windows.

Under the property tab of the printer, you can restrict who prints from the
printer.

This is a setting in the Jetdirect device and has nothing to do with
Windows. There is a setting using JetAdmin util to enable a device
password, but since I've never used it you should consult Jetdirect
documentation for your model or search HP site for help.

This will only effect the worksation's printer driver settings and is
not applicable to the OP's question.
