My HP system keeps rebooting after I ran the windows update and updated to service pack 1. I can't even bring the system up in safe mode. Please help!

The Repair Installation normally leaves the data intact.
Are you sure you did a Repair Installation and not a Clean
Installation?

Log in to an Administrator account.
Look in Documents and Settings...is the old profile there?
Search by name for a file, it is all likely together.

The repair installation wiped out all my info. It said it was a non
destructive repair? How could this happen? Or is it hidden
somewhere?

It said during the Repair that is was copying files. But I can't find them. It wiped out the accounts but left some of the programs and directories there. I hope it didn't wipe out the data cause I'll be screwed.

The copying files normally refers to copying the data from the CD to
hard drive for Windows installing purposes.
If some of the directories are there, the data is also likely there.
Search as stated in last post.

The cd was not in the drive. It was copying things that were on the hard drive. It left icons alone and directories but some software does not work. It also got rid of the profiles.

Usually the data is safe, but sometimes...that is one reason why
regular back-ups are so important.

Did you search the drive?
Sort the files by size, the old profiles may turn up, they may be
fairly large.
