XP Home fax install: bug-like feature?

I updated XP Home with Service Pack 1. When I tried to
install XP fax service component, a dialog window said it
needed a file from the "Windows XP Home Edition Service
Pack 1 CD." Um, why would I need the CD if I already
installed SP 1?

That's "2002 version," upgrade, purchased a week ago at
Staples.
