Help and Support Center in XP pro does not update on my computer.

The message I receive on its home page is "When you are connected to the internet, this area will display links to timely help and support information. If you want to connect to the internet now, start the New Connection Wizard and see how to establish a Web connection through an Internet service provider."

I am connected through broadband. HelpHost.exe, helpctr.exe and HelpSvc.exe are shown as running in Task Manager.

sfc /scannow has not helped. Any ideas?

Set a system restore point, just in case something weird were to happen.

If not already set this way:
Try launching IE, click Tools, Internet Options, Connections, LAN Settings,
and make sure "Automatically detect settings" is selected. H&S uses IE.

Also for XP, right click My Network Places, click Properties, and
right-click the entry for your physical ethernet connection or your PPPoE
connection and, if the option is available, select it to be the default
connection.

| Do you have GetRight installed? GetRight can conflict w/ H&S, and getting
| the "you're not connected" when you are is the symptom. Go into
| GetRight's options, and uncheck "IE6 Click monitoring". Then try H&S
| again. See also:
