Xp hard drive wont boot

I installed red hat 9 on my 4 gig hd and now my 8 gig Xp drive wont
boot i get a message saying there is a problem with a "chain loader"
i dont care too much but i have some files on it i would like .thanks
for your help

Are you using LILO or GRUB?

I use these lines for GRUB to boot Windows 2000 from /dev/hda1:

title Windows 2000 boot menu
rootnoverify (hd0,0)
chainloader +1
makeactive

I understand that, in some cases, it may be impossible to boot Windows from
GRUB. I've never used GRUB before, and the lines above worked the first
time for me.
