XP Firewall option not there...

In Network Connections, I click on "change settings of this connection" for
my Local Area Connection. The only tabs it shows are "General" and
"Authentication." There is no "Advanced" tab to click on, so I can't turn on
my Windows Firewall. Also, I am signed on as the administrator, so it's not
that problem. If it makes any difference, I also have two other icons listed
under Network Connections: "1394 Connection" and "Network Bridge (Network
Bridge) 3". Anyone know what I can do?
Thanks.

I've seen this too. From memory, you can't enable the firewall on the
Network Bridge; and if you have a Network Bridge it can hide the firewall
tab on other connections too. Things to do:

1. Do you need the Bridge? If not, remove it.

2. Are the Firewall services running? Control Panel - Administrative Tools -
Services is the Internet Connection Firewall installed and running?

3. In my case, I think it took a restart before the advanced tab showed up
properly.

4. You might want to install XP SP2; there are a lot of changes to the
firewall and the above might not then be necessary.

Thank you. Removing the bridge as well as the administrative tools solved
the problem. I'm in the process of getting SP2 as well....
