XP fire wall

Running 2 firewalls? XP has a fire wall built in that I
can either turn on or off. I have installed norton system
works with the ffire wall. My question is can I run both
fire walls at the same time? If so, would I be causing
more problems for myself?
Thank You,
Roger

You can run them both simulataneously, but I don't think you'll get
any real benefit from it, especially with a simplistic firewall like
the XP one.

You're probably better off disabling the XP firewall and saving
yourself some system resources.

Running them both concurrently shouldn't cause any real problems
though.

I have run two firewalls at the same time with no problem. There is usually
no reason to run two however. The XP firewall is fine except it does not
stop outgoing communication therefore a trojan horse on your computer could
still send out information.
The reason I ran two firewalls was because of XP messenger. For video
conferencing many UDP ports must be open. The XP firewall normally opens and
closes these ports as needed while many third party firewalls do not.
I therefore opened the UDP ports on the third party software but kept them
closed on the XP firewall. The XP firewall would then open the ports and
needed and not leave them open all the time.
