XP doesn't see my DVD drive.

My DVD edrive, which is a 16X MAX DVD-ROM DRIVE XJ-HD165H /
166S made by jlms/jvc, isn't recognised by XP Pro. I've
searched high and low for updated drivers, but there appear
to bo none. The drive is not even shown in Device manager.

Does nayone know if this can be resolved, or not, please?

Thanks!

Do you see any messages during the bios post that shows
that the drive is recognized? If it's not recognized there,
neither will it be in XP.

Did you install it in a new bay, or did you replace an old drive? If it is
in a new bay that was not used before, you will need to be sure that it is
enabled in the bios, and also be sure that the jumpers on the drive are set
correctly for you configuration.
