XP CD-ROM Drivers

Roger

Hello,

I was having intermittent troubles with my cable
connection and thought it might be my network card. Since
I have two cards I decided to disable the one I was using
and enable the other.

When I disabled the network card strange things happened!

My two drives, CDROM and CDRW/DVD drives stopped working.
In device manager there is an exclamation point next to
each. When I tried to uninstall and reinstall, same
results. Tried System Restore (never works)

I can't access my Windows CD for drivers and I can't find
them on Windows Web site or the Internet.

I know it's not my drives because I have two hard drives
and they work fine on the other HD.

CD ROM- Liteon JLMS XJ-HD 166S
Samsung- CDRW/DVD SM-352B

The manufacturers Web site say use Windows drivers.

Anyone know where I can get drivers for these device
drivers?

It is hard to see how the NIC could affect this, and it may be just a
coincidence. But this is what happens if some driver-like files,
usually ones associated with CD burning, go missing, leaving unsatisfied
entries in the registry. To tidy up, get a registry patch file,
cdgone.reg, from www.aumha.org/downloads/cdgone.zip, extract it, r-click
on it and merge it into the registry and reboot - the drives should
reappear

You will then need to reinstall any burning software that you use.
