XP Dialogue Boxes

Dick

I have posed this question a few months ago and did not discover a solution,
I pose it again.

The XP dialogue boxes for Open, Save As, Browse etc. always come up in an
icon
view and sorted alphabetically.

I would prefer that they always come up in the
Detail view and be sorted by Type. Does anyone know if this can be done and
what would be involved.
Thanks.

When I am editting a document and use the open or save as
under the file button the directory opens with a detail
view. Is this the same thing that is being asked?

Hi,

A workaround has not been found at this time. Good luck!

Just checked. Internet Explorer the File > Open is a
small dialog box with website entry box. Under the
Browse button the dialog opens with icon view.

File > Save As opens dialog box with my pictures
directory in detail view which is the "last" view used.

Generally and technically speaking, no. As for My Pictures, that folder is
handled totally different (thumbnails by default). As for pre-set/saved
view options, this can "only" happen if folders are added to the Places Bar
at root level.

That said, the original poster hasn't given enough info to determine exactly
which and where he is speaking of; however, the general consensus of such a
subject line is NO. I have been troubleshooting this for over a year now.

Kelly has the context of my question correct. A few applications, e.g.
Outlook, can change if you use the Save As in the File menu, arrange the
window as desired and then hit Control and the upper right cancel button.
When you again use the Save As your preferences are restored. This seems to
be an exception to most MS and non-MS applications.
Kelly thanks again for your response, I hope you bring this one to ground
sooner or later!
