Change Places list on "Open" & "Save As" Common Dialogue Boxes

I have Windows XP Home Edition (SP2), I have partitioned my hard drive and
keep my data on a different partition to windows. When using the "Open" or
"Save As" dialogue boxes there is a list of "Places" on the left of the box.
This includes: Recent Files, Desktop, My Documents, My Computer & My Network
Places. I would like to change these places so that instead of Recent files
and My Documents I have access to a couple of folders on the second partition.

I have read the details on the MSDN page:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/d...ommondialogboxes/openandsaveasdialogboxes.asp

which tells one which parts of the registry to edit, but it appears to be
for XP Professional. I have looked at the registry on my machine and it
doesn't have the right sections to it.

Any ideas?

It is called the Places bar.

You can use TweakUI, Edit the registry or if XP Pro, use System Policy
Editor.

Using TweakUI is probably the easiest if you have XP Home.

the folders that appear in the places bar by using the Common Dialogs
category in Tweak UI.]]

You can use these two freewares (I use them successfully):

For Office products: OPiE 2.0 Office Places Editor

For XP: WinPlaE O.S. PlacesBar Editor

Why do you need extra software for Office Places bars? Especially with
Office XP or later.

Cheers Wes, I downloaded the tweekUI software and it's worked a treat.
Nice one, and thanks again

Thanks Hans L,

I have use the tweekUI software from MS and that appears to have worked a
treat, although I don't know if it does or doesn't work within the Office
products as I don't have them. If I get them and the tweekUI solution
doesn't work then I will certainly try your suggestion.

Thanks again for your help
