XP Desktop - Very Slow Loading all of a sudden ??

All of a sudden my XP desktop on a 1 year old Dell takes
minutes to load instead of seconds - the welcome screen
shows quickly but then the screen goes blank for minutes
until the desktop loads - and suggestions ?

Have you run a antivirus, spyware and adaware scan? Also you can click on start , run and type msconfig , click on startup
tab and see what is starting at startup.
