XP and DSL Tray Icon Question

When I was using 98se I had to set up DSL connection and it put an
icon of 2 computers or whatever in the taskbar that lit when the
connection was in use.

I just started using a new system with xp that picked up and connected
to my DSL connection automatically but it did not put the flashing
computer icon in the taskbar.

Is there an easy way to get that back?? If so remember I have only
been using this for not even a week so explain how in laymen's term
please.

Settings

Network connections

Now right click on your LAN and look at properties

in the "properties" box, there should be a box you can check to get the LAN
icon in your notification area

Got it and got my icon back.
