WXP Update Repeats...and Repeats....

Every time I go to the WinXP update site, I'm told that I
need to install Critical Update KB835732, which I do.
Automatic update also finds this update, and wants to
install it again and again. Somehow, the fact that it has
been installed isn't registering. Is there a solution for
this problem?

Possible solutions:

1 - Delete or rename the folder c:\windows\system32\catroot2

Then do the updates again.



2 - Start/stop the auto-update service.

Start, control panel, administrative tools, services, right click automatic
updates, click stop. Right click again, click start.

Rename both catroot and catroot2,
If the above fails try:
Start, run, cmd
Sfc /purgecache
Sfc /scannow(Will require windows XP CD)
