It didn't - it didn't even find any files in there to search! No files! No
directories - nothin! That's why it only took 9 seconds to search Qty 0
files.

Get rid of it. The only time I installed NAV it made my system slower than a rheumatic
snail.

Get rid of it.

I agree. Get rid of XP (eXtra Processes) and go back to '98.

I'm not really fond of an OS that hides and locks files and
directories from the user.

The next Windows (V, for Virus) will be designed such that many users
will have to call Macro$loth for paid incident support. Operators are
(or will) be standing by to take your call (and your credit-card
number).

Remember Micro$haft's motto:

"If it works, it isin't complicated enough."

I think you miss the point. The scan time was 9 secs and it scanned 0
files.

Hmmm, 98 had memory management issues which were never resolved. XP is
fine. It's NAV that is having the problem. I have no experience with
NAV CE, sorry :(

Did you check your configuration?
Have you tried to scan just 1 file?
Sounds like a corrupted install.
Try again.

More details please.

How is the HD partitioned?
How are the partitions formatted?
What size is the HD?

If the C drive is greater than 128GB is 48-bit LBA enabled?

Is this a custom built PC or bought from a retailer?

This may be a silly question; but you did install XP to the C:\ drive on
your system didn't you? Another problem could be if the drive is a
compressed drive, or a drive that has been PGP'ed or other wise encrypted

Bad advice if this is to be used in a corporate environment.
Besides... AVG detection is very poor!

AVG has never let me down in the 3-4 years I've used it.

When you select "Scan Computer", are you manually putting a check mark
in the C:\ drive box? Do all the sub files show a check mark after C:\
is selected?

You ever ran a scanner with better detection capabilities on your pc?
Try Kaspersky. You can even test Dave Lipmans tool or Arts for that
matter. Multi AV and KASFX on www.ik-cs.com/got-a-virus.htm

P.S. I put together a version of Multi AV with an automatic update
module thats runs resident. I will release this as soon as I get Daves
approval.

You have got to be kidding! W2K is the best performer of all-much
better than 9x ever hoped to be.

Most users need a babysitter ;)
People want a "quick fix" to any problems and don't want to be bothered
with any type of "learning".
