Hi all,
I've got Windows XP Home edition (Compaq Presario 8000) that comes
with RecordNow! software for burning CDs and DVDs. The PC came with
DVD+RW NEC writer and I also added to it my old CD writer. I've got
Windows XP SP2 installed.
The problem:
When I'm trying to use the built-in Windows XP writing software (which
I want to use as it is much simpler and faster to use it to record a
few files I need to than RecordNow!) I can drag new files to the CD,
but when I click Write to Cd link everything that happens is a Windows
sound (same you can hear when you change the volume of your speakers
when using little speaker icon in the bottom right corner). When I try
to delete the temporary files I can hear the same sound (no error
message in both cases). I can delete these files when I right-click
them and choose delete from the pop-up menu. If I don't delete the
files and I close the CD write window and eject the CD, I am informed
that there are files ready to be written on to the CD, and when I put
the CD back in the drive Windows start to write files on to this CD.
Before I was able to write files using built-in Windows XP writing
software on my old CD writer (the DVD writer worked only with
RecordNow! software), now I'm not able to do it at all.
Could you please tell me how I can troubleshoot this problem (it seems
that Description of CD-R and CD-RW recording in Windows XP article has
got some intial info about it, but it still lacking troubleshooting
details).
Any help highly appreciated.
Regards
Jack
