write protection?

i'm trying to 'sync' some of my music onto my new mp3 player. i get to the
point where i click 'start sync' which brings up some error message saying
the media is write protected. i find this both frustrating and odd as i can
burn the music but not put it onto my mp3 player. why is this...? and what
can i do to put my music onto my mp3 player?

gonna assume the following...

you have first copied the files onto your computer off
another cd using windows media player right?

windows media player has a write protection feature which
needs to be turned off for what you are trying to do.. you
will have to rip that song back onto your computer also
once you change the settings.

open up WMP, go to tools, options, copy music,

uncheck "protect content"

Thanks...but i've tried that and it doesn't work. i can burn but not sync
onto my mp3 (tangent-neo II). do you think it could be a problem with the mp3?

I'm new to XP but spent about 3 years on Win98

I know for a fact that when I installed this media player I unchecked the
write proctection box before ANYTHING was ripped

I too get the same error where the media player is saying the music is write
protected and won't transfer to the mp3 player yet I know it wasn't there in
the first place!

More help needed!!!!
