WPA Problems

G

George

I am only posting here because the Windows XP newsgroups
seem to be down.

I have Windows XP Home edition and whenever I try to
activate it, i go to Run -> %systemroot%\system32
\oobe\msoobe.exe /a
It seems to start loading up, but then nothing actually
comes up. If I remember correctly there was such a
problem with Windows 2000, so I thought os posting here.
I have tried changing resolution to 800*600 as this is
the lowest my driver will go. My drivers won't seem to
uninstall because every time I restart they reinstall
themselves (Nvidia GeForce 4 Ti4400). Any help on fixing
this would be appreciated, because I only have 7 days
left to activate and the screen for WPA won't come up.

Hi George,
If XP has already been activated, msoobe.exe won't open (just as you
describe). This would also occur if you installed with select / volume
license media, or if you bought the machine from the hardware vendor with XP
already loaded (sometimes doesn't need to be activated when XP is
pre-installed by the hardware vendor).

If none of the above are true, the alternative to activating over the
Internet is to call 888.571.2048 and activate over the phone.
