Worm restarts computer when trying to delete

I got an email with the I-Worm Sven B worm attached as an exe. I saved it to
c:\temp, identified it with my virus checker, then deleted it in Explorer.
Or tried to: as soon as I hit delete the computer restarted. It was no sweat
to delete it from the DOS prompt, but my question is this: how does it
restart the computer without even being run?

btw Running XP Pro SP1

answer: it doesn't... the restart was coincidental...
