worm blasters

I was told that, in order to protect my computer against
the blaster worms, that I was to go to this website and
download the patch on the right hand side of my screen.
I clicked on the blaster worm patch but I didn't have any
evidence that the patch was installed. Please instruct
me further. Once I clicked on the blaster worm patch, I
was given instructions on how to confirm what program
that I had. I did that and know that I have the XP
version. Is there some further action that I need to
take? How do I know that the patch was downloaded?

What website did you go to, to get the patch.

Sounds like the symantec patch to me ...

In any case download the patch to a place that you will be able to remember.

The patch I just a file.

You have to go and run the file (double click it), once you have downloaded
it to your computer.
