Workstation Service Not Started

Hope someone has seen this before...

When I try to edit user accounts from MMC - Computer Management - Users, I
am able to display the General Properties however when I try to look at
other information, i.e. "Member of", I get an error message box informing me
that the "Workstation service has not been started".

If I try to start the service from a command prompt using "net start
workstation", I get a message stating "The service name is invalid".

Any thoughts???

BTW, this is a home PC, not a member of a domain/workgroup.

Check how it is set in administration tools>services. It should be started
and automatic.
