workbook freezes workstation

I can open workbooks, enter data into any worksheet needed
but when I attempt to sum (ie: a1+b1+c1=)or copy cells, or
insert data links (same workbook) entire PC freezes and a
reboot must be done. Anything I've entered up to that
point is lost and must be re-entered. I can create a new
workbook, enter information and when I try to add cells,
copy cells, data link or use EDIT functions or formulas my
workstation locks up. This happens on a regular basis and
Microsoft can't seem to determine what the problem is.
Every single thing that they have tried is the same that
I've done prior to them and still nothing. This happens
on a daily basis and I work with Excel regularly
throughout the day. It's beginning to wear on my patience
as well as not being able to get me job done. ANY
SUGGESTIONS/COMMENTS would be greatly appreciated.

What have you tried so far ?
My guess is that your PC is running out of some resource.
Try ctrl+alt+del then go to the task manager. Look at the
processes tab and find excel - Is it taking all the
CPU ? - Also look at the performance tab - are you at the
limit of memory useage ?
Also what verion of windows are you using ? NT /
XP /2000 ?
