Wordpad and .doc file

I have received an E-Mail that is a .doc file extension. This file is
supposed to open in Wordpad. An attempt to open it gives an Illegal Operation
message as follows:

"Wordpad has caused an invalid page fault
module MSWRD832.CNV at 026f:0140f6d5."

I am using Win98SE and IE6

How big (and complicated) is the file? I don't know how much Wordpad can
handle - and the document itself was more than likely created in Word.

Can you create & save .doc files in Wordpad normally?

Got a tip and fixed it by installing wd97 viewer.
