Word slow to save

Hello,

Using office97 and windows2000. When I save word files to a network
drive they take a long time to save (about 40 seconds). There is no
delay when I close the documents and there is no delay when I save
excel files to the network. I have outlook installed but I cannot see
that it is journalling anything. Saving documents to my local drive is
as fast as it should be.

I have Norton installed, but disabling it does not speed things up at
all.

Any ideas for things I can fix to speed things up?
