Won't run safemode, Won't turn on!

I installed some software, and as usual it asked me to restart, so i did, and
it didnt turn back on. It goes straight to the f8 screen without me pressing
it, so I tried running it in safemode, and it comes up with a black screen
and runs a list of all the drives on my computer, then goes to a blue screen
and tells me I have a problem and that I need to run it in safemode and sort
out the installation of the software... It does this everytime I run
safemode. I tried the last known config, and it runs the windows XP loading
screen for about 10 minutes before restarting again. And if I run in normal
windows it doesnt even get that far before restarting. I know I should
reinstall XP, however the man that built the computer kept the disc, so I'm
kind of screwed. Any ideas if anything will work??
Yours Eternally if you can do this.

What software did you install - That information helps to diagnose your
problem ? Also, when Safemode runs what is the data on the BSOD ?
The list you describe (White text on Black background) is the listing of
the Safe mode drivers loading and is normal.

When the F8 (Menu) opens, have you tried selecting the option" Enable
VGA mode" ? That runs the computer with basic video capabilities.

You should contact the System Builder and "Strongly" request the XP
disk. OEM's (even small ones) are required to follow Microsoft's rules
on PC distribution. Does your PC have a COA (Certificate of Authenticity)
on the PC case ?

I installed Roxio Easy CD, for an external CD Writer, The cd Writer was given
to me without the cd, so I downloaded the drives and got the software off the
net. I'm thinking it was a dodgy software package, but either way I can't
get onto the comp to sort it out. The data when it starts to load safemode
just has the files names of the drives e.g
c://hannah/local~s/windows/system32/DRIVER.file It hasn't done that before
when loading in safemode, so it may be normal but it's not done it before.

There is no option in F8 for enabling VGA mode. When the blue screen coems
up the error message tells me to disable BIOS Memory caching, which I did but
it still happened and had the same message. Since my dad sorted the computer
out I'm not sure who the system builder is/was. But is does have the COA on
the case.

I rang microsoft and they didn't have anything help to offer and told me to
look online...which I'm doing.
