WMUtil download SteveCochran

I have downloaded the WMUtil because I have a message stuck in my outbox and
can't send emails from Windows Mail. The 2 bottom file utility buttons are
live but the top 3 aren't, has anyone else encountered the same problem.
Windows mail was shut when I attempted this.
THANX

Close the Win Mail Utility. Right click on the Taskbar, select Task Manager, on
the Processes tab click on the Image Name column to sort alphabetically, scroll
down to find WinMail.exe, highlight it and click the End Process button. Restart
the Win Mail utility and the buttons should be available now.

Are you certain? There may have been a process running
and that is usually the cause of missing functions.

Have you followed these instructions?

"If Windows Mail is open, or if a current WinMail.exe process is running,
the Database functions are disabled, and the WinMail.exe process must be
terminated before these features can become available. (If WinMail is closed
and these buttons still remain disabled, then perform a CTRL-SHIFT-ESC, and
under Processes find WinMail.exe and click on it, and then click the End
Process button.)"

Damned instructions aren't big enough nor red enough!

Wendy,

I used Steve's utility to take care of my "stuck in the outbox" problem. I
can't remember if Windows Mail was open or not. I think not because I saved
the utility to my desktop as Steve suggests.

After unzipping Steve's utility, I have the following on my desktop:

WMUtil which is an application.exe file which is 40 KB in size. This is
the file you want to run.

Windows Mail.INTEG.RAW which is a RAW file which is 340 bytes in size.
I don't know what this guy is all about.

wmutil folder which is a read only file 528 KB in size which gives the
instructions for the application file.

If I remember correctly, I ran the application file with Mail closed and the
problem went away.

Good luck.

The 'grayed out' function buttons are invariably a result of the WM
application or WM processes running. That's why Steve increased
size instruction text and put it in a red box but..

Thank Steve Cochran -- he wrote the utility and generously provided it for free.

Happy it worked out for you.
