WinXP SP3 Reinstall OK in SafeMode?

I have had good success installing, as far as I can tell, SP3 when booting
into SafeMode. I assume that is ok to do?

I have one PC which I installed while not in SafeMode, and did see a few
errors pop up due to AntiVirus software installed I believe. Is it ok to
re-install SP3 on this machine in SafeMode? My concern is that the couple
of patches that have come out since SP3 will be harmed or replaced, is this
an issue?

First of all, why do you want to install SP3 in Safe Mode? It installs
perfectly well in normal mode.
