I get the words Disk Partition when I try and Boot in "Safemode"

I am unable to boot in safe mode when hitting f8
Does anyone have a suggestions how I can boot into safemode?
I believe I have some sort of trojan virus that is not allowing this?

msconfig in 'run'.. then do the usual AV and spyware stuff... several
times.
