Winsock corrupt for Windows 2000 Professional

My internet provider told me that I wasn't able to access the internet due to
WINSOCK being corrupted. I tried calling Microsoft but they told me it would
cost about $250 dollars to get support because of my system being
professional. Does anybody know how I can fix or reinstall Winsock for
Windows 2000 professional. Thanks
