WINS

I have DELL Poweredge server with Windows 2000 Server OS.
I am receiving an Event in event viewer which says. "WINS
could not read from the User Datagram Protocol UDP
socket". The event reoccurs every 40 minutes. I initially
tried to stop & start the WINS service but that did not
work. TCP/IP is loaded & working. Any advice on what I
can do to eliminate this message.

Can you post the actual Event ID # please? If it's 4204 (that's a WAG), then
look at this and the related tech articles listed in this article.

To go to the MS tech articles listed in the bottom of that link, just suffix

Also just guessing...It could also be that NetBIOS is not enabled on the
WINS server's interface. Many problems are related to multihomed WINS
servers too, so you might check that out too.
