Windpws XP Installation errors

Paul

I am getting a couple of errors installing windows XP.
The first is:
SXS.DLL: Syntax error in manifest or policy
file "D:\1386/asms\6000
\MSFT\WINDOWS\COMMON\CONTROLS\CONTROLS.MAN" on line 4. ??
I have a new hard drive (WD 40Gig) and this is a new
install.

Second Error:
Installation Failed: D\1386\asms. Error Message: data
error [cyclic redundancy check]

Final message is fatal Error: one or more componets that
windows needs to continue setup could not be installed.

Can anyone help me with this -=- any more info I need to
provide?

Thanks

The CRC (Cyclical Redundancy Check) is usually a sign of a corrupt/defective
CD. Is this a copy of the installation CD or the original? If it is the
original, you may need to get it replaced.
