Windows2000 on a 2.75GB partition.. feasible?

Plain and simple, what is the absolute minimum disc space required by
Windows 2000? I have Win XP on a partition of 39 GB and have another empty
partition of 2.73GB and the question is, Can I install Windows 2000 on that
partition? I have enough disc space on the main partition but don't want to
buy the software required to extend the small partition to a more convenient
size. I don't want to spend and use the software only once; budget
restrictions don't allow me to. In case you’re wondering, the win2000 CD is
leftover from better times and since win2000 is far more stable than XP I’d
like to use it until I can solve the XP issues.

Thanks for any advice.

Computer/Processor 133 MHz or higher Pentium-compatible CPU.
Memory At least 64 megabytes (MB) of RAM; more memory generally improves
responsiveness.
Hard Disk 2 GB with 650 MB free space.

Thanks RykO; It's a 850MHz Intel PIII processor and 256MB of RAM... the
partition size shows 2.75GB and I can transfer files to leave it at 2.75GB
of free space, so I guess that means it's a GO...

Thanks again.

You might want to dig around for one of the various versions of windows
lite .... programs that will write up a new install cd leaving out
various windows components (your choice).

I have one partition where the Windows install directory is around
one-gigabyte and it's not by any means as small as it could be (I was
just nervous about leaving out some stuff). This partition has been
running beautifully, without incident, for months.

There are commercial versions around but there are some freeware ones
too (mine was).

Shouldn't be a problem if:
You put the swap file on another disk/partition.
You put Temporary Internet files on another disk/partition
You put Program Files on another disk/partition (ProgramFilesDir in the
Registry)

Yes, that's what I intend to do. Thankx.

I've looked up what you recommended, and found it to a good alternative but
cannot find a free application... would you mind sharing the link for
yours?...

Thanks.

Yeah ..... I thought you might ask. Actually it would have been natural
to have posted the link in my first message but I couldn't, offhand,
remember it or find it quickly when I looked. I just spent another 20
minutes looking and googling and then finally noticed the link sitting
right on my desktop. Duh!

The link is: http://www.nliteos.com/

Worth trying.
