Windows XPe Newbie Questions

(I origionally posted this in microsoft.public.windowsce.platbuilder but see
that this group is better suited.)

I'm interested in learning why I would want to use XPe instead of XP Pro for
our POS. I have a bunch of newbie questions that I didn't find answers to
in my web searching. I can purchase a hardened system with XPe
pre-installed and install our POS application.

I assume that using XPe can result in some increased security and reduiced
OS liscencing cost. What additional advantages could I see?

What tools do I need to purchase to manage the systems?

How are updates preformed to the system. i.e. OS an application patches?

What things do I need to be conserned with? What dis-advantages should I
prepare for?

1. You can write protect partitions you want in XPe.
2. You should make your image to take full advantages of XPe.
3. Lower price.
4. Less space on disk.
5. Faster boot times.
6. Custom interface if you want.
7. Extra features not available on XP Pro.
8. Updates go trough DUA (Device Update Agent) or image replacement.
9. Disadvantage is that you must make your image work. (loose some
development time). Other than that there are none.

Use google groups not web search:
