I have an HP Pavillion 772N with Windows XP home edition.

XP is set to download updates automatically for critical
updates, some others (Windows XP HighMAT Support in CD
Writing Wizard (KB831240)) it does not download
automatically. When I attemted to download these I get to
the download/install progress box and it just sits there
and does not appear to do anything more. Watching the
internet connection it appears that nothing is being
downloaded.

I found the problem there where several files that had to be re-registered.

New question, this is the second issue that has been resolved by re-registering files since I removed interactual dvd player. Is there anyway to determine if this is any other damage other then finding it as I go
