I am unable to locate this error in the ms common
knowledge db ...

Microsoft crippled my machine a few weeks ago when I accepted the sound and
graphics drivers on offer via Windows update. I had to "system restore" and
put my own ones back in that I'd recently collected from Nvidia and
Creative. Always wise to create a restore point b4 Windows updating, and as
several MVP's advised in here, "not wise to accept hardware drivers from MS.
