Windows XP Repair with "Product Recovery CD" from Siemens-Fujitsu PC possible?

Hello,

I have a two years old Siemens-Fujitsu PC with a crippled Windows XP, i.e.
with
only a "Product Recovery CD" for Windows XP from the producer!

I have read in Internet that the repair function of Windows XP - reinstall
Windowxs XP but then the installed programs and personal registry entries
remain - is not possible with these OEM Windows XP versions.

And I can not try because after the "New installation" window in some cases
the old system is overwritten and the message box "Repair" does not appear.

Has anybody tried a Windows XP repair with any Siemens-Fujitsu PC with its
"Product Recovery CD"?
Or a Windows XP repair with any "Product Recovery CD" from other
producers???

Genuine install CDs, possible, recovery CDs, no.

The recovery CDs are usually brand/line/model specific.

If you bought a full CD you could.

You might be able to make an install CD from files residing on your
HDD, when a restored install has taken place, or if you are lucky,
with files still there.
