Windows XP Installation Help

Ant

I was reformatting my hard drive because it was just that
time of year to do so and I also believe that I had
spywear.

I started installing it and once it go to the
installation step after the preparing to install step it
gave me the following error:

One of the components that windows needs to continue
setup could not be installed.

And then in the log page it said:
SXS.DLL:SYNTAX ERROR IN MANIFEST OR POLICY FILE "D:\|386
\ASMA\1000\MSFT\WINDOWS\GD|PLUS\GD|PLUS.MAN" on line 4

and

Installation Failed: D:\|386\asms. Error Message:
Incorrect Function.

Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?

If this is a disk you burned, perhaps a backup copy of your actual XP CD,
this error is often caused by a bad burn. Were you using the XP CD or were
you using a copy of the CD?
