"Windows XP Hotfix" for real?

Hi all,

I recently noticed (after receiving hundreds of the fake MS emails) that I
have 22 programs in Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs that are named
"Windows XP Hotfix (SP2)" with some numerals after it. Is this a virus that
I should remove or is it for real? It was not there last time I looked. I am
very suspicious of it.

Please respond to (e-mail address removed)

Thanks in advance,
Stephen Veefkind

They are real.
They have been there ever since you installed an update that was not
included in SP1. When you install SP2, they will go away and (SP3) updates
will begin appearing. Do not be frightened. This is expected. hah
