Windows XP Activation site down???

Carey, I appreciate your help (honestly), but this has been beaten to do
death in this thread. :^)

Product Activation is NOT required if you reinstall Windows clean using the
Dell OEM disc. When it first comes up it will NOT require activation. True.
But... if you then sysprep the machine, it WILL require activation on next
boot. And yes, we see the window pop-up requiring activation.

If have not tried NewSID, but that consensus seems to be that it too would
trigger reactivation.

Also discussed in the thread: Sysprep is not supported with OEM
installtions. (understood) We shoulda/coulda have installed our images
using our VL disc. ;(

I am just curious about MS reversal on this issue. Is the reversal
permanent?

Check out comment #59. This is what made me give this another go.

I really don't have an answer to your question.
You may wish to contact Microsoft directly
and ask them.

LOL, welcome to the "read, react, and post" style Carey uses. This dude
never reads people posts/queries with even a modicum of comprehesion. He
typically sees the subject line, maybe gives the post a quick glance, while
already having made up his mind what he thinks the posts is about. He then
raises his defenses to protect the MS realm from reading incomprehension.

I liken his police posts, to that of how a junk yard dog reacts; but at
least the dog knows what it is about.
