Windows (VISTA) mail & Outlook (XP)

I have just purchased Vista Home & Student and a new PC. My previous mail
application was Outlook. I want to transfer the contacts / address book from
Outlook on my old PC to my new one.
I have attached address cards to an email to myself and have sent them from
my old PC using Outlook but when I open the mail on the new PC using
Mircosoft mail there are no attachments and nothing that tells me what
happened to them.
I have made sure I have 'unticked' the attachment box warning of virus's in
the new PC so nothing should stop attachments.
Can anyone otu there help me?

You have two choices of how to do it: 1. Install Outlook, preferably
version 2003 or later, under Vista. Versions 2000 and 2003 will also
run under Vista, but with some problems. Windows Mail has to have
Outlook installed on the same machine to be able to import .pst files
directly from Outlook. 2. Import the .pst file into Outlook Express
on your old computer which has both Outlook and Outlook Express.
Then find the .wab file Outlook Express will produce and copy it to
a directory on the hard drive of your new computer. Start Windows
Mail, then click Tools and then Windows Contacts. Click Import,
then Windows Address Book File (Outlook Express contacts), then
Import, then find the .wab file and click on it. Click on Close, then
close the Contacts window.

Also, to import from Outlook Express to WinMail, see here:
www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx and the section on WinMail. If your machine did
not come with Vista SP1, then make sure you update it.

When sending attachments from Outlook, make sure it is not using the
non-compatible RTF format.

Seems like the simplest way to do this is to export contacts from
Outlook, then import them into Windows Mail contacts. Both programs
understand the .CSV format.
