Windows Stop Error after Laptop screen change on TOSHIBA

Hi Gerry

At work at the moment, yes it is a single partition. Where do I find
the stop error support? Is this in the minidump log? Do I just convert
this to text?

Cheers

You can copy the mini dump report but you should find a copy in Event
Viewer. Normally it best to get the original report when it occurs.

Changing the System Restore space allocation will give a useful addition
to your free disk space.

Cheers Gerry

I have reduced the system restore space to 3%. Sorry for not being the
brightest, but I've created a cd from memtest, which as
memtest86+-1.70.iso on only. I have tried booting from this, what am I
meant to do? Do Im run a command from the cmd prompt to start this?

I've donwloaded HDtune and got that running, am at 43 degrees at
present and looks ok.

Just had the same sequence of events at 16:47 (id 30013, 7000, 7000)
and had no blue screen and the odd 2505 which backs what you said
earlier about these being nothing to do with the error.

This is all the info from event viewer yesterday.

Apologies as well, the Pagefile Montior thing, does it need setting up
as a service or something, as only seems to write to the log as I open
it, and then closes, is it a continuous monitoring thing?

Thanks for all your time and help.

I have a Desktop shortcut to pagefile.exe, Double clicking the shortcut
offers the Run or Cancel option. Selecting Run places an entry in the
log. If you want 10 entries in the log you have to follow the same
procedure 10 times. I have a second Desktop shortcut to the log file so
I can view the log file. It's not a very sophisticated tool.

Do you know what the boot sequence is in the BIOSon your computer? Mine
is floppy -CD -hard drive but some users have the hard drive as the
second option. The sequence used to be floppy followed by hard drive
because the technology was not there to create bootable CD's.

Try putting the CD in the CD tray and start your computer.

Hi Gerry

Good News, the problem is fixed! Bad News is my computer totally
crashed and so had to restore from the factory backup. I tried the
safe boot and it kept crashing. Thankfully nothing really important
just photos lost. Thanks for all your help! I think I've learnt a
lesson to back things up on CD though, but my dvdrw doesnt seem to
read my disks! Cheers, Rich

Keep an eye on Event Viewer Reports. You may not have fixed the problem,
We did not discover the cause.

I would investigate a Flash Drive for certain back ups. They are simpler
to use and more reliable. Large capacity drives are now available.

Take care.

Hi Gerry

Yes, you were right, the problem is still there. I'd just installed
some Sony Erikkson file transfer software, which I have only got
recently (cannot remember if its since I installed this the problem
occured) So I've uninstalled it. I also checked the memory was
physically in ok. I'll see what happens, I'm wondering if the Sony
Eriksson stuff just sits there and uses a lot of memory up. Anyway,
will see what happens, and then take to Toshiba.

Cheers
