Windows Safemode and XP install

Hello,

I was having problem with the performance of my laptop, so i changed the
bootup sequence and booted the laptop using safemode. Now system is not
accepting password on the safe mode for both users (adminstrator and mine). I
thought reinstalling XP might help but now when the installation starts
system gives a message that installation cannot continue in safemode and asks
me to restart, this steps is repeating for 5 to 10times.

What can i do in this circumstances to address two issue one is allowing me
to login in safemode and installing XP, i appreciate your help/suggestions.

regards

Hello Bhaskar:

If you feel compelled to reinstall Windows XP, you must have booted up
from the Windows installer CD and *NOT* your system's hard disk. Then
your system's hard disk partition, where the OS will be reinstalled,
should be reformatted. Then a proper installation (Clean Install) can
begin.

Hello,

I am trying to reinstall XP from CD directly, once the initial setup is
completed then system restarts to further processing, during this time safe
mode screen appears then system is givng a message that it can not install XP
in safemode so it has restart the laptop. The key point is i am not
formatting my harddisk, and secondly safeboot option was selected in my
msconfig. BUt not sure why my passwords are not working, as if my password
works then i can atleat repair from original disk.

I hope this helps and appreciate your response.
