Windows Photo Gallery - Email button - opens Outlook instead of Thunderbird.

Hi,

Have a problem where using Windows Photo Gallery. therefore we are viewing a
photo in the gallery that we want to email and when pressing the "Email"
button it opens up Outlook.

We want it to open up Thunderbird instead as this is the Email program we
use and this has been set as default.

Thunderbird opens when we click on a mailto link within a website so that
part works fine and normally Thunderbird will open whenever there is a
request to send email.

however it used to work on Windows Photo Gallery but not any more and we
cannot work out how to get this back.
We are assuming a registry entry somewhere but does someone know which
registry entry this could be?

Please help

Does anyone know how to get around this problem? I have vista with 64 bit.
I don't have microsoft office on my computer. They say Vista needs
Microsoft office to send mail through windows mail. What a rip off. I
don't use office and don't want it but need to send web pages sometimes
through this program. What should I do?

The host 'quest' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the
server name correctly.

To avoid confusion, always begin a new thread to ask your questions (instead
of hijacking someone else's thread & changing the subject).

Your settings aren't even close to being correct. Contact your ISP.

Liz,
Start your own thread and state your particular problems.
Copy & paste the ENTIRE error message. You might have similar problem as
Lois, but you could not have the same identical error message. Different
error message indicates different cause of problem.

I recently upgraded from a Windows XP computer to one running Vista. Using
Microsoft Vista and Thunderbord 2.0.0.22 I had he same problem as many of you
describe above, right-clicking on a picture and choosing "send to mail
recipient" would open up Microsoft Mail, despite the fact that Thunderbird is
my default email program. An attempt to reinstall Tunderbird using the
"default setup" did not change anything.
Here is what worked for me:
I had to reinstall Thunderbird 2.0.0.22 using the "custom installation"
option in the setup program. Once I entered the custom installation menues I
choose the default selections for all questions.
Now right-clicking on a picture and selecting "mail to" opens Thunderbird as
desired.
