Windows permissions- 2nd request...Please help!!!

Whenever I try to access anything on my desktop, it gives me the following message " Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item. " This just started recently but I don't think I changed anything. Can anyone help me out?

I would
1.
Log on as administrator
2.
Browse to C:\Documents and settings\%Your Profile Name%\
3.
Right click your profile folder and choose Properties
4.
Click on the Security Tab, then the Advanced button
5.
Check the Permissions Tab, you should see your user name with ‘Allow’ in
the type column and ‘Full Control’ in the Permissions column.
6.
If you see the abouve the click on that row and ckeck the check box that
says ‘Reset permissions on all child objects and enable propigation of
inheritable permissions’
7.
Click Apply
