Here is a summary of the problem:

After turning on the computer and typing in ID and password receive the
following message:

"This copy of Windows must be activated with Microsoft before you can log on.
Do you want to activate Windows now?"

I select "yes" and receive the following screen:

Activate Windows
Windows Product Activation

Windows is already activated. Click OK to exit.

I click "OK" and am returned to the login screen.
When I login again, I get the same message as above.

And you expected MS's copy-protection code to be error-free?

This is probably due to new hardware being installed. Have you changed any of
your system components. Just ring up the MS activation hotline and they will
deal with it for you

Step away from the keyboard and put your hands behind your head!

You are a total moron, and you know absolutely nothing about computing,
in general, or Windows XP, specifically. I have a zit on my ass that
has forgotten more than you'll ever know, even if you live for eternity!

Why don't you set up Outlook Express to read this newsgroup. To set up OE
read the link below. After you set it up and you are in the newsgroup then
lurk for a while and read the posts present and future and you will have a
very good education . It is the best way to learn . After you will be able
to answer more on target. You are answering a lot of posts and that is good
because you are learning. But I am sorry to say some of your answers are off
quite a bit. That is why I am recommending you to do the above and come out
of the CDO interface. You will see and learn more.

Hard to believe you did not make any hardware changes or install a fresh OS.
This usually occurs when the user attempts to get around the EULA with
respect to OEM versions of XP.

I had the same issue a few months ago and was never able to figure out why.
I had not added anything new to that pc and the OS was OEM on a Dell that
had been pre activated. It finally wouldn't let me logon at all. I don't
remember what the error was but apparently my time to activate had expired.
I did a repair install and it seemed to work fine again with no activation
notice. I was nervous that it might happen again so I reinstalled XP using
a Volume license that I use for the pcs in the office.

Good Luck trying to reason with Quintin, as I suspect he only reads
threads that are on the first couple of pages of the CDO interface.
